  • Coming Home: Dedicating the Handwritten Bible

Please join us as we install Phillip's handwritten bible in its permanent home on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at St. Peter's Presbyterian Church. This brief dedication will be part of the worship service that begins at 10am and ends around 11:15am. Tea on the Green follows the service.

Don't worry if you can't come! You're always welcome to stop by the church anytime to see and read from any of the volumes. (How cool is that?!)

    A little background information:

From early on, Phillip wanted the finished volumes of the handwritten bible to live at St. Peter's.

After he wrote the last word he spent the next year binding each of the eight volumes by hand. At the same time, we poured over all the photos I've taken, picking the "right" ones to put on the covers. But after he died I struggled to make the final decisions without my beloved collaborator.

Memories of his short and sweet phone calls nudged me into action just like they used to do when he was alive, when he would remind me to that imperfection has just as much value as perfection.

At this service you'll see all eight volumes, each with one photo from the project inset into the cover. Eventually, they'll be housed in the sanctuary where you can read from them any time and during particular services a volume will be brought up to the front and read from.

A book of photos from our project will be available someday and I'll be sure to let you know about it.

** Special thanks and lots of love to Morgan, Drew, Doris Jean, Shirley, Randy, Culpeck and Clark (for their patience, work on the bookbindings, and putting the photos on the covers), Jeff Brouws (for printing the photos), and John Cox. **
